... our powerful search gateway to the Library's collections ...
Hi there, and welcome!
A very successful Library Orientation was held from September 15th - 17th 2009. While the Orientation program is now finished for the year, there's still plenty of information contained here that will be useful if you're not too familiar with the Library.
This page is a stepping stone to making yourself more familiar with our services and facilities, both online and in the Library building. Hopefully by the end of your online visit here you'll be a bit more familiar with us. And don't forget to drop into the Library for your information pack!
As well as the physical Library building, we also have a huge amount of information available electronically.
Our training programmes provide training that will help you make the most of our services, and you're invited to sign up for anything you think you may find useful.
Our Library Guide is also full of useful information for you, all year round.
To help get you started, we've prepared a quick presentation about the Library, and some of our useful services. It's worth taking a look to help orient yourself, and you might find some of your questions answered. Just click on this link to watch the presentation. You need Quicktime movie player to watch the presentation - you can download it for free here. It might take a few minutes to load.
We have also prepared a useful self-service audio tour to help you get your bearings. The tour will bring you through the Library building, pointing out the various services and facilities on the way.
You can borrow an audio wand from the Customer Services Desk and you'll also be provided with a map of the Library building to help you get your bearings.
Alternatively you can download the four files for the audio tour here: Ground Floor, Floor One, Floor Two, Nursing & Midwifery Library. Just right-click on each one, and save it to your computer.
If you download the files to your device, just treat them as you would treat a song i.e. press play, fast forward, etc. To go along with the tour, we also have a map available for download here, although we would recommend you take one from the Customer Services Desk.
If you have more questions, you can drop into us at the Customer Services Desk, email us library@nuigalway.ie, or give us a call at (091) 493399
