The Archives Service was established in 1998 to look after the archive holdings of the library. There are over 350 collections, ranging in size from one postcard to 300 boxes of materials, and dating from 1485 to the present. Information on services and guides to deposited collections are available online.
As well as providing a service to students and staff of the University, the Archives Service is seen as pivotal in strengthening links between the University and the wider community. By acquiring and preserving archive material, and making it accessible, the service supports scholarship.
