We can order books, journal articles, theses, book chapters, conference papers, patents, standards, reports and whole issues of journals from libraries in Ireland, the U.K. and the rest of the world. Pre-1900 material is available from the British Library.
Some libraries stipulate that any books we order from them must be consulted in our library only. This also applies to theses (with the exception of theses which come as microfilm).

Delivery Times
Requests for
loanable items usually take up to two weeks to arrive. Readers will be e-mailed
immediately an item is received for them. Such items are usually loaned for a
period of two to four weeks.
Electronic Delivery
Articles can
be delivered electronically (usually within a few days), or can be sent as hard
copy to the end user. Articles ordered from the British Library are delivered
electronically as PDF files. Readers must have version 6 of the Adobe reader to
download them and, once opened, the download must be printed.
Copyright Requirement
We are
obliged by copyright legislation to obtain a signed copyright statement from you
before we order any photocopies (for example articles). This statement is
automatically generated by your computer.
Student Authorisation
Students
must have signed authorization from a staff member in their departments in order
to access a departmental fund to cover the cost of their ILLs. Requests cannot
be processed until signed forms, where applicable, are received by
us.
Renewals
Renewals can be applied
for provided readers come to us within three days of the due date. Please note
that failure to return Inter Library Loans books may result in substantial fines
or in other libraries suspending service to our library and, therefore, fines
will be passed on to departments.
Urgent Action
An Urgent Action
service is available on request. Please note that this service costs
considerably more than standard ILL delivery.
