Text Access is the National Union Catalogue of accessible resources for higher education students with print disabilities. It consists of three parts – the union catalogue, the resource guide and the discussion list.
The catalogue aims to provide access to accessible format resources, allowing users to identify items from the overall pool created by libraries in the Irish higher education sector.
The resource guide contains a range of useful information and links to key sites. It includes information on the types of print disability, using assistive technology, and relevant Irish and EU legislation. It provides tips and guidelines for students and staff. Finally, it includes links to sites providing accessible e-texts and subject guides, and sources of non-print material.
The discussion list provides a forum for accessibility issues relating to higher education in Ireland. Both staff and students are welcome to join.
