Check the status of an order
If you have placed an order for a new book and would like to check the status of that order, please search for the title on the Library Catalogue.
As soon as an order request has been processed and sent to a supplier a record will appear for it on the Library catalogue. It will be flagged as 'Unavailable' and clicking on 'Get it' will indicate a status of 'On Order'.
If no record appears on the catalogue, this means that we have not yet processed your order. We tend to receive the vast majority of order requests between June and September, so backlogs quickly build up and orders placed during that time can take several weeks to process. To ensure speedy availability of the material you require for Semester 1, we strongly recommend placing your orders prior to the end of May. For Semester 2 reading list material, we recommend that you place your orders by mid November.
Once a new book has been received from the supplier, its status on the Library catalogue will change to 'In Processing'. It can take on average six to eight weeks for suppliers to deliver ordered material to us, so please place your orders with us as far in advance of the start of Semester as you can. Once an item is 'In Processing', we catalogue and prepare it for the shelf as quickly as we can. You may request an item in processing to be treated more urgently by emailing sonia.freaney@nuigalway.ie or patricia.ffrench@nuigalway.ie.
