While the Library provides a range of face-to-face training events, we recognise that many of our students are based off-campus or find it difficult to get to the Library to attend training sessions. For this reason, we have some online training modules available, and hope to increase the number available over the coming months.

Information Skills Module
This online self-directed learning module on Information Skills will equip you with the skills of finding, evaluating and using information efficiently and effectively. With these skills you will find your essays and study less daunting, and experience shows that students with good information skills gain better marks. This module is aimed primarily at undergraduates, but would be of benefit to anyone wishing to improve their information skills.
Graduate Information Literacy Module
The Graduate Information Literacy Module is aimed at postgraduate research students, completing a PhD or Research Masters, as well as post-doctorate staff. It will give you the skills to be more efficient and effective in your information seeking, evaluation and use. It will also help you to be more effective in publishing and disseminating the results of your research.
Postgraduate students may also find the online module Research Methods in Literature Review available in Blackboard useful.
Academic Study Skills
An set of online study skills modules are now available within Blackboard. Called Skills4Study this resource includes the following modules:
- Getting ready for academic study
- Reading and note-making
- Critical thinking skills
- Writing skills
- Referencing and plagiarism
