Fines
The Library charges fines for the late return of books:
- 50 cent per day for books from the main Library
- Two euro per day for three day loan books
- Two euro per day for DVDs, videos and audiotapes
- Two euro per hour for one day loan books
You will not be able to borrow if you have fines totalling more than five euro.
You can pay Library fines online via the NUI Galway Online Print Service. Go to the Information Solutions and Services home page and select Student Online Services. From the list of online services, select print services to buy credit. Find more information in the guide to the online payment of fines .
You can also pay fines via the computer terminal to the right of the Customer Services Desk. To make payments, you will need to buy a photocopy card from the dispensing machine located at the rear of the Desk. Credits on the copycard will be converted to cash.
You can pay fines in cash at the Desk when staffed.
Final Year Students
It is University policy that final year students must return all books and other materials, and pay any outstanding fines before the end of their degree or course. Failure to comply with this policy will result in final year results being withheld, and students will not be able to graduate. It is the responsibilty of all final year students to check their Library accounts before leaving the University, and to make sure that all materials are returned and fines paid.
